It was designed and constructed with Chinese standards and equipment.rnrnWith total investment reported to be US$ 64 million, the refinery was built on a 50% share basis by CNPC and Ministry of Energy and Mining (MEM). The processing capacity of the refinery is 50,000 b/d. It consists of four major units: 2.5 million mt/yr CDU, 1.8 million mt/yr RFCC, 150,000 mt/yr REF, 500,000 mt/yr HDT, as well as its own power station (8-8.5 million KWH), air separation ;amp; air compression units, water supply and drainage, central laboratory, and other auxiliary units. The annual output of gasoline, jet fuel, gasoil and LPG is 2.2 million tons.rnrnThe agreement establishing the joint venture refinery project was signed on March 1st 1997. Construction commenced on May 26th 1998 and was completed on January 23rd 2000. Products are supplied to the domestic market of Sudan, and diesel, gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas have also been exported to neighbouring countries. Some electricity is also supplied to the local area.rn
